I have done 2 things now.
I first compiled Boinc 7.22.2, installed the client and requested FGRP#5 work. No success, but from reading all of the below I think that's an expected fail.
Second, I then reset the project, took the stock application v1.08 and the fft wisdom file from my 5800X3D host that gets work and composed an app_info.xml from snippets I took from the client_state.xml of that machine. That did it, the 7800X3D host now gets SSE work. Compute times for FGRP#5 are in an order where I would expect them (for comparison I loaded all of my machines with FGRP#5, running 2x parallel and exactly nothing else on them).
On a sidenote: Using Boinc 7.22.x might be tempting to make sure to have the fix, but I think at least that the Debian project works the way that they lock in a particular application version into their particular distribution version, and then port or back port fixes to that. Debian 12 shipping with Boinc 7.20.x doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t or will not have the fix. I might be wrong, though. Browsing the Debian site for Boinc I could not determine that yet.
Depends on when Debian grabbed the 7.20.x branch from the Master branch at Boinc Github. Needed to have grabbed it past the date when the fix commit was merged. Anytime after March 3.
