Hello! I am 29 y.o. My life is pretty much defined by SMA type 2, which is a sort of thing that no one would really wish to have, but apparently someone's got to, so OK, why shouldn't it be me :) Naturally, I spend a lot of time on my computer. I was always a little ill-at-ease with the fact that the machine stays on for hours using up world's energy while mostly all I do is browse the net, read an e-book off the screen, or even just watch telly through a tuner card. Now my mind is at peace -- more than that: I feel I can actually be of some use (or at least my machine can :)
I'll take a liberty here to recommend two absolutely wonderful pieces of software that make a big difference for me everyday -- they are both freeware, so this isn't advertising, right? :)
1. Dasher ( http://www.dasher.org.uk/ ) -- a stunningly ingenious and very effective (after a little practice) alternative method of text input -- a miracle solution for people whose handicap makes using the keyboard impossible or very inefficient.
2. Windows Smooth Text Viewer -- in my situation I also find text viewers with autoscroll function very, very useful indeed. This one may look unimpressive but it does its job admirably and it's free. I owe to Ilya Zverik a nice few books I have been able to read conveniently.
On a general note, I like books and movies, love the English language, and take keen interest in car rallying and in snooker. I must confess I'm not very well oriented in the subject of BOINC projects (iincluding those I partake in :) or science in general -- that, however, does not in a bit lessen my belief and enthusiasm for them!
