:))) <--- @ everything (except the bit about you going to work, Kathryn. I hope it's proving a nice day however with plenty of these ----> :))) too)
When I first met my niece, she was four and had never been out of the tropics, so had no clue that when the sun first peeped over the horizon in the UK in the summer - it was still the middle of the night.
So every 4 am-ish - during the four months my sister and her family were staying with us, this little voice would start calling "aunty annie... aunty annie... are you awake yet?" and every day I would stagger about for a bit for her, pretending I was.
One day, I hit upon the idea of getting a couple more hours in bed, by leaving her equipped with colouring pens, and paper and similar paraphernalia. When I got up, it was to find she'd coloured in all the blank bits on our tabby and white cat.
edit: I forgot to say what colour. Pink. Completely pink.
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

LOL ! One wunders what would have happened if you'd given her a paint spray can or three ..... :-))
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

One does, yes :))
She did turn the aquarium water brown once. She'd thought the fish would like it if she poured her dad's tin of coca cola into their tank - but found out too late that her dad didn't really like that much at all.

Cheers, Mike.

A coworkers of mine kids did that to the dog next door one time, it was about the same time he was getting a divorce and his wife called the child enforcement folks on him saying HE told them to do it! He went thru holy hell convincing them he didn't, they both took Laudanum for their medical issues that were WAAAAAY beyond any ADD kid you have ever seen, so were prone to doing strange things. He eventually got thru it and his ex-wife was then charged with bringing false charges against him!! They spray painted a St Bernard and the neighbors were NOT happy!!!! The dog though didn't even notice!!
Thank you for pointing me at it. I might not have noticed otherwise.

Y-e-e-s. You need to keep those kind of ambitions under wraps, Mike - at least for awhile. Adults just won't upgrade you otherwise. I know that's probably little comfort to you ... but...
;)

That must have taken some washing off. Speaking of washing off. You know that time when you're alive, but you have to rely on other people remembering stuff for you, for you to ever know of it yourself? Well apparently, my mum and dad dog-sat a friend's Retriever for a couple of months, and just before the dog's owner returned from wherever they'd been away to, my mum decided to take it to a dog grooming place in Chingola I think it was. When she went to collect it she was initially horrified because the dog she'd taken in had been pitch black all over, and the one they handed back to her was a very pale golden colour. It was the right dog, but from lolling about on the tiled floors of its owners home, it had picked up the floor polish on it's coat and the owner hadn't thought of mentioning it.

If not for the arts of Medici distracting me, I may have wound up in the Royal Australian Engineer Corps, having been an avid blowerupperer of ants nests with fireworks as a juvenile.
Cheers, Mike.

It's kind of fascinating how specialised some areas of the military are really... I was more mediator/peace envoy/uh-oh-target - in my own interactions with ants. I suppose it's just as well it wasn't in Australia though, or I wouldn't have picked up that useful fact now. Thanks, Mike :)
