I have only a modem dial-up connection. Since last week, the packages resized to about 15MB, so my connection needs 2 hours (no flat-rate, paying each minute, thanks good old german T-COM!).
In future I will only do Seti@H work, because of the small files to download.

Have fun!

Sorry to see you go, but I can hear where your comin' from with a dial-up connection and those 15.47MB downloads. If I have over 3 or 4 of them already in the Einstein folder, I've been aborting 'em before they can download. Something went haywire after they had the trouble with the RAID arrays and I'm getting those things 2 at a time! I looked a couple of days ago and I had 46 pages of jobs. Many were client download errors, some finished correctly, some pending and for the first time in over a year I found 8 or 10 jobs colored red. 46 pages, that's 920 jobs!! and I made no changes to my settings on any of my 5 machines. The last 2 days I've gotten more download error messages than anything else and can't locate jobs that were completed sucessfully 3 or 4 days ago. Oh well, it did work better than any other project I've been involved with for over a year, and I suppose that ain't half bad.

I think there is still something going wrong! The server is very often unreachable. I have now 3 of those files in the download folder!

Look at the numbers of these

Look at the numbers of these 15.xxmb files, I have 11, all differant numbers. Stop aborting them and your wu`s will be ok.

I am sorry you are leaving.

I am sorry you are leaving. But we are analyzing instrument data, and without putting that data onto your computer we can't do the analysis. We have tried to design the system so that the large data downloads are infrequent, but particularly with the scheduler troubles of the past couple of weeks, I am not surprised that your machine had multiple large downloads. Hopefull this will not continue now that the problems are fixed on our project server.

On the bright side, the cost of broadband networking seems to be dropping everywhere. So perhaps you can rejoin the project in the future with a faster and cheaper network connection.

Cheers,

Bruce
