Hi,

I'm using BOINC in the always running, non-screensaver mode on a machine to which I connect through Windows Remote Desktop. The question is that I'd like to be able to see my results - if I already found some gravitational wave, what data is my machine currently processing etc. The results on the web page show just some strange numbers :-( Any way to accomplish it?

Thanks

Seeing my results

As far as I know, it is not possible to see the details of the data you are crunching, not even on the machine where E@H is running. Even on that machine all you know is the name of the data, which is not particularly informative. The screensaver will tell you what part of the sky your

With seti everyone crunching a particular wu can claim 'hey I found an alien', and the screensaver will tell you in the unlikely event that it happens. With cpdn you can bring up a graphic client and see how the weather looks on your virtual Earth at the time currently being crunched.

With E@H you do not get anything like as close to the data. The most you get, even on the same machine, is to see what part of the sky your own box is scanning.

If I understand correctly the output of our results needs to be combined with the output of others before it means anything. We are doing the machine-hungry part of tha calculation but the work is not complete until it is post-processed with other results from the same dataset. Even if that post-processing looks promisng the scientists must look for a similar pattern in the data from the same place but from a different time (that must be data from a different dataset). This is because one of the things that distinguish a gravity wave from random noise is that it goes on and on at the same frequency for years.

If I have got this wrong, I'd be happy for someone to put me right...
