I don't think the problem is related to Akos' apps either. The first reported occurences happened with regular Albert 4.37. If it is a coding issue, it's in the base code (and Akos has "optimized" the bug along with everything else). Since it is still an "unknown", I just thought I'd help publicize the effort to gather data on it again.

I think the error should be reproduceable if the WU is known and the original is still available. If such an error could be caused by interference with other programs, we should have errors under Windows all the time.

The problem went away when I put clocking back to standard spec's, including for the video card and bus too.

It was a common problem at SETI when Crunch3r came out with his optimized apps. If you OC'd (either CPU or memory) you were guarenteed a violation error. Besides, an good optimized app at normal speed will beat the standard app while OC'd. Extend the life of your system and let the app do the work. :)

Not to mention that you'd also discover fans, heatsinks, thermal paste etc... that then needed reviewing with the faster apps too. Laptops especially, which I've always found generically marginal with cooling in various situations. It really does pay to set the BIOS hardware alarms sensibly, and respond accordingly, rather than raise the thresholds 'til it shuts up. :-)

I have been using optimised apps for seti now for about a year and Akos apps for several weeks. Never a problem. And that 15% overclock gives me about 20% performance increase. But IMO the reason most have difficulties overclocking is because they are using generic parts in prebuilt systems. Build your own system(s) and you will always be more satisfied with it.

My cpu is now at stock voltage but I've had mine running Prime95 stable at higher clockspeeds with higher voltage. I was limited by heating of the northbridge not the cpu. Some active cooling there and I would feel comfortable about uping it again.
