I think that I am in need of a tutorial on this project, this is very new territory for me. Is such a thing available?
Donna,
There is a Boinc Wiki that is very comprehensive and informative, a great place to start.

Would someone be willing to spend a bit of time with me helping me to get acclimated?...
I will try to be of help, and I am certain that several others who worked with you on your previous problem will assist you.
Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael:
Question: When we are looking at the animated map of the constellations is there anything there that indicates where gravity waves have been detected? (Is that a stupid question? I like to think that there is no such thing as a stupid question but...lol)The animation also allows you to move things around, what is the purpose of that? What is the little orange thingy moving around, which can also be enlarged and looks rather like a ship's wheel? Does this map indicate satellites as well? Any other pertinent information concerning the map would be most helpful... Cheers-Donna

First off - The only stupid question is one that should have been asked, but wasn't.
Re: Starsphere screensaver. I personally don't have a clue, I forgo the graphics because I would rather the CPU cycles required to display them not be diverted from crunching data, or "slowing the flow". That said, I found a page with the answers to most of your questions about the Einstein screensaver.
Hope that helped you,
Michael
(edit) I don't know if any new gravwaves have been discovered, the project has much analysis and discussion to do before any announcements there. There is a partial analysis of the previous series that is pretty informative, though.

Donna,
I'm not Michael but do have answers. Gravity waves aren't shown, but that is one of the "enhancements" people ask for.
The little orange thingy is the search marker, it points to the area thats being worked on by the application. Its where the coordinates in the lower right point to.
For more on the graphics, visit the StarShpere Screensaver page. It'll tell you about the funny squiggly lines that also appear and how you can rotate and zoom the starsphere.

Thank you, now I am much clearer... I hope sometime in the not so distant future, we will be able to observe gravity waves. (It was one of my hopes when I joined...Hoping for real time, no less...)
