as has been mentioned before, this is only the case for the 3000-series tasks.
the 4000-series tasks do better with 1 task at a time for nvidia since they don't have the extended low-gpu-utilization period in the last 10% or lower overall GPU utilization per task like the 3000-series does. the benefit in multiples comes from being able to do some crunching on another task during this time. 3x tasks seems to keep the GPU core and memory controller as busy as it can with almost no downtime when one of the tasks hits lower GPU utilization.
but 4000-series tasks on nvidia will use ~96+ GPU utilization for the entire run and the last 10% is near instantaneous, so multiples will not benefit nvidia there, and in most cases will reduce overall production. when/if we start getting 4000-series tasks again, I will switch back to a 1x schema.
