Well new files have just been downloaded at 19.41 and work process has resumed. Why is this suddenly happening? Have I not the latest Einstein@Home and BOINC softwares?

In the future, if again you find your machine(s) idle and without work, I suggest that you look at the scheduler-side logs for a hint about what's wrong. You can find these by using the web interface to look at "your computers" and then clicking on the link labled "last contact". Then search for your hostid using your web browsers "find" button.

jb99,

You do not have the latest Boinc, you'll find 5.2.13 here. Einstein will automatically put in the latest applicable software for the work that it is assigning you, unless your app version is labelled "anonymous", which it is not, in your case.
I can't address the issue of not getting work, but installing the new Boinc could be the key.

Whoops!

Thanks Bruce and Michael. I downloaded BOINC 5.1.3 but it refuses to install. Do I have to remove 4.43 first?

Yes, I believe that you have to do that, but do not delete the folder or it's contents. I don't know the procedure on Macs, on Windows, I use simply the Add/Remove Programs applet. I'm sure that Macs have something equivalent.
