I don't want tasks requiring GPU computing to run on two of my computers. What settings are required to prevent the server from sending these computers tasks requiring the GPU?

Thanks for your help.

go to

go to your account-->preferences-->project-->preference set (there are 4 of them)--set "No" to GPU options

scroll down and uncheck any gpu applications click "save changes" at the bottom and do this for each preference set

If you are fussy about only

If you are fussy about only getting what you have requested, you may also wish to set:

Preferences | Project | Other settings| Allow non-preferred aps

to NO

and also:

Preferences | Project | Beta settings | Run Test applications

to NO

for each venue/location

Presumably, that means you do want to run GPU tasks on one machine, since you have 3 machines listed in total.  If so, you would need to assign the two not to get GPU tasks to a different 'location' (which could then have a different set of preferences) to the location used for the third computer which then can be set up to get GPU tasks.

Apart from assigning particular computers to separate locations, you have two broad ways for restricting GPU tasks.  One of those is to 'turn off' the use of particular GPU hardware - ie. tell BOINC no to use it.  The other is to deselect the particular searches that only use a GPU like the Binary Radio Pulsar search or the Fermi Gamma-ray Pulsar search.

It would be easier to give specific advice if you listed your 3 machines and specified exactly what type of task (the name of the particular search) you would like to run on each one.

Cheers,
Gary.
