My PC has BOINC manager running only Einstein@home, and it accesses the internet constantly, at about 10KB per second all day long. This is not a problem of bandwidth, but does BOINC really do this, or is some malware hiding in there? BOINC only loads files after it finishes a run, which takes about 10 hours on my machine, so does anybody know what is going on?

How often does BOINC access internet?
)
Why do you think it's accessing the internet? Perhaps because your firewall says so? Is that firewall by any chance Zone Alarm?
BOINC communicates between its daemon (boinc.exe), GUI (boincmgr.exe) and the screen saver (boinc.scr) through TCP port 31416 on the computer only. ZA shows this as 'internet activity', while it's only happening locally.
Thanks, I thought something

Thanks, I thought something like that might be happening. Yes, it shows up on ZoneAlarm, but also PC Mag's Top Stats. So I won't worry.
