FYI: Windows Media Center will NOT be supported in Win10.
That's a huge bummer, I use it on my Media Center PC as a DVR and have since XP Media Center edition, circa 2006 (?)
I think it's really one of their overlooked products, even by Microsoft; there haven't really been any major changes since Vista. So, I guess I'll keep my Media Center PC on Windows 8.1 for the time being, until I figure out something else that works as well out of the box.
Win 7 Pro, registered, and received "Get Windows 10" icon in System Tray. :-)
I have to update my Win 7 Home Premium laptop, then check to see if it will get the new icon. Also, have to update my parents' systems and check them as well.

You only have to do ONE update to get the icon, it's #3035583, it came out in March and is in the 'optional' section of updates.
I realize that 3035583 is one update; but, I was behind in updating several of our systems for a couple months... That equated to 59 Updates from MS on my laptop...
I still need to update my dad's laptop... NOT going to be fun... Mine took a total of four hours; three for MS, and one to update other 3rd party plugins for the latest Firefox... :-(

[Edit] Here is a link to Win10's FAQ.
It does appear as though you will have the ability to acquire and burn an iso image. It appears that on OEM computers the OS is locked to that computer whereas retail packages of Win are installable on any machine - no duplication of course.
Install VLC; while it isn't MediaCenter, it will give you DVD playback functions, as well as the ability to play other media from the Web.
I have had VLC on my laptop for a couple years, now and it works great. :-) I just installed it onto my Win 7 Pro Desktop machine in preparation for the Win 10 Pro Upgrade.
Does anyone know if you will be able to PURCHASE a Win 10 Pro "Upgrade" 3 License copy??? I am dreading having to upgrade our three Win 7 Home Premium systems to Win 10 Home due to the inability to defer Automatic Updates on Win 10 Home.

I got that and registered on 4 of mine but #5 has been having problems d/ing and installing the last updates so I can't get that update to Win10 icon.
And it is a fairly clean install of Win7 off my disk.
My #6 is still an XP Pro and I am running that until it quits running.
Since this is a online update I am sure my DSL is going to ____ me off several times as I wait all day to update each one.
All the do on that register is send you an email saying they will let you know when it is that time.
Rather get a disk in the mail.
(btw just to screw up your thread......anyone using DDR4 Ram yet?)

Nope no ddr4 for me yet.
BUT did you try searching for the update and then downloading it to a usb disk and installing it yourself?
Three of four Win 7 systems now updated. All three updated systems now show the "Get Windows 10" icon!!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!
However; my laptop, (Voyager), hard drive only has 175 GB Free on it. So, I'm thinking of taking a trip to Central Computers in Pleasanton to see if they can image my drive onto a 1 or 2 TB SATA laptop drive and install that and some more memory. The laptop only has 4 GB right now. I'd like to get it to 16 GB.
Also, my parents' Desktop machine, (Farragut), may be in a similar situation with hard drive space; I forgot to check that... However; I know it's in the same boat with memory, only 4 GB RAM...
My dad's laptop is in better shape, as it's the newest of the four Win 7 systems. It has at least a 500 GB hard drive in it, and memory is fine too; at least 8 GB.
Prometheus, my desktop Win 7 Pro system, has 8 GB RAM; but will need a bigger hard drive soon. I may need to let that go for awhile because of funds... For now, it has 186 GB free of a 250 GB SATA drive.

GRRRrrrrrrr......tody when I check that certain pc it is frozen and won't do ___ not even restart.........had to hit the button (another problem is this ones PSU also runs the one next to its GPU so it crashed a 24hr WU) and NOW I have it back up and doing a ____ing clean install off the Win7 disk
This will take hours and hours on a sunny day (this is my pc with the 660Ti SC)
My luck I will also have to call microsoft again to make it official and the version using that on the phone robot is ok but last time I had to end up talking to India to a human to actually make it official and then d/l all the drivers and programs.......ok back over to that pc to hit some "next" buttons.......btw tell me this upgrade to 10 online will not do this to me 5 times.....
I upgraded two PCs with licensed OEM products of Win 7. I am not seeing the white "Get Win 10 Flag" in the system tray like on the machine running a licensed retail Win 7 package. Did some looking. OEM products are handled differently in the way they are licensed/registered then retail packages so OEM users might not see this flag. Also not sure how I will be able to "get" Win10 for an OEM product. More frustration and the upgrades have not started yet.

Think backups!!! I use a free program called 'Reflect' by Macrium, the free version only let's you do full image backups, not incremental ones, but that works for me as I do one on each pc every month. It let's me schedule the backups, I do one per night in the middle of the night, when I'm not using the pc's for anything but crunching.
I do have a small problem with it, I have a NAS backup drive I use but it won't let me backup straight to it, so I have it set to backup to the users/public set of folders, then I cut and paste it to my NAS drive.
Do you have Win7 on a usb stick? If not think about it as it is much faster to reinstall that way. Of course older machines won't boot from a usb stick so you would be back to the dvd way, or the backups. Backups also mean NO more calling the guy in India!!

My Win 7 Pro system, (Prometheus), is an OEM, and it was the first computer of the four Win 7's in my family to show the "Get Win 10" icon. If you've just recently updated and installed KB3035583, give the systems at least a day and a half. They should show the icon.
