So what is that computer doing then? What kind of computer is it? A server?
Did you set up the preferences for that computer (maybe with a preferences_override file) to only work when it is idle? Is it ever idle?

The machine is a home built Athlon64 running on a Gigabyte K8NPRO nforce3 mother board, 512 MB of PC3200 400MHZ ram, windows XP home 32bit. It is not a server. All of my machine are what you might call stand alone and I must connect via dialup (would you believe I still don't have access to DSL?) to send an receive data.

Last night, just for the heck of it, I left this machine connect all night. At Approx. 8:00PM I had one 6 hour job running with one ready to run. When I checked at Approx. 7:AM this morning I had 1 job ready to send and was running a second job. Based up the completion time of the jobs, I obviously should have had 2 ready to report, OR a record in my messages that one job was reported l at approx. 11:00PM. I could find no recond at all of the job that was running and 50% completed at 8:00 PM last night in my messages, or in my results. Vanished. I'm not the type of person to go running around changing settings(if it ain't broke, leave it alone) when the ones in place are working, but something is amiss with this machine. I used to have, (depending upon the completion times) at the very least 1/2 of a page of jobs waiting and sometimes as much as a page and 1/2. Now I only get 1 job in reserve.

Sorry about all the trouble, but this is the only "real" problem I have experienced since I began using BOINC well over a year ago and I don't like being 'stumpped'

To Jord and all others who posted helpfull information attempting to get my Athlon 64 to download sufficient work to "make it through the night" without running out of work, I just wanted to express my thanks. I won't go into the details, but it appears the machine is now operating as it was before and if I had to guess I was just on the wrong page to make the necessary changes to put the settings back where they were. I apologise for all the posts and again thank you for generously offering your help.
