Discovery Certificates

Volunteers whose computers discover new pulsars receive framed certificates of appreciation. The latest batch is just being sent out! Here is a photo of one certificate and here is a photo of the boxes ready to ship to our vounteers.

Wow, very nice. I'm crunching away in the hopes of some day getting one of those coveted certificates.

But, even if I don't, at least I will have gone through a bunch of data making new discoveries happen just a little more sooner :)

Hi Charles,

Sorry for the delay. We are investigating what went wrong, and you'll soon hear from us.

Dear Charles, sorry you

Dear Charles,

sorry you haven't received your certificate yet, but that is simply because it has not been sent out yet. It's currently in Cornell, were one of our collaborators (the PALFA survey PI Prof. James Cordes) is going to personally sign your certificate. After we get it back, it's going to be signed by Prof. Bruce Allen as well, then we'll frame it, and then it's going to be sent off.

The most recent thread on the discovery certificates is here and I'll post updates about this as things go on.

Cheers,
Benjamin

Just wanted to say that your certificate program is a great idea. It's the kind of thing that makes us volunteers feel appreciated. Also appreciated is the wealth of scientific information that you guys regularly post. Thanks!

Is there a comprehensive list

Is there a comprehensive list of who has found what since E@H was started? I'd hate to think I missed an email from E@H about finding something because it went to my spam folder sometime in the last 8 years.

Well, 13 days short of 8 years on E@H I guess to be accurate.

Thinking about switching all my other projects back to E@H for a while to increase my chances!

Thanks! Looks like all the discoveries have been in the last 4 years or so. I just switched a bunch of my systems back to E@H to see if I can double my RAC.

HEY one of my old pc's is on the Arecibo Binary Pulsar Search list from back in 29 Jun 2010

Must be why I just checked this post and looked at that list after all these years here.

Hi all, we've just sent

Hi all,

we've just sent out the last batch of Einstein@Home discovery certificates.

This batch includes certificates for "Jesse Charles Wagner II [USA]", "pavlo" (Ukrainian translation of the certificate), "Josha", "SF Chance", "Aku Leijala", "Augusto Cortemiglia", "Gordon Hartmann", "Paul Frei", "Jyrki Ojala", "Matthias", "spacemort", "werdwerdus", and "the3dge".

Depending on where you live and customs it might take a couple of weeks before the certificates arrive.

Cheers,
Benjamin

Great! Have been waiting it

Great! Have been waiting it seems like forever. Out here in the we have little to look forward to. Sand rubs off the paint and there is no grass.

If I am not mistaken there is not a single discovery listed in those lists since 8/8/2012. What happened? The discoveries were coming in very fast before that date...

Hm, out of interest

Hm, out of interest :

Besides these certificates, are the names of the discovering Host owners also taken into the scientific community with the official discovery release ?
(i.e. Pulsar found by EAH Scientists + EAH participant names)

It may seem something small but would mean quite something to most participants IMHO.

Look in the thread "Paper on

Look in the thread "Paper on Einstein@Home's 24 radio pulsar discoveries published" and follow the link Benjamin provides to read the paper and on page 15 under "Acknowledgments" the owners of the hosts that helped discover the pulsars are mentioned.

To be precise: "the the owners of the hosts that helped discover the pulsars" that agreed to have their names published.
