This is interesting!  I presume it does not apply for the search for continuous gravitational wave detection, but for black hole and neutron star mergers?

The actual paper is here, it is a transient search, so NS/BH merger events only.  The big potential is that it can extend the search into mergers in configurations that're too computationally expensive for LIGO's current detection methods.
