I wanted to get more information about how secure BOINC is to run, particularly on corporate machines. I know about the image verification, but not the details of its inner workings, and it appears from looking at the logs that it only connects through http requests.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BOINC Security

Although, I'm sure you can get your answer through this forum, you might consider looking at Boinc forums. These forums are setup specifically for boinc.

You might also consider browsing the Unofficial Boinc Wiki.

There is one project so far

There is one project so far that uses https, it is up to the projects to decide what they want to do in that respect as far as I know BOINC is very safe to use on a corporate network

I have been running boinc on

I have been running boinc on three of my computers at work for about a year and have not had a problem., if that helps. I've been running setti on them. I just got interested in this project, and started it on my home machine. If it still runs stable after a couple weeks I will probably bleed the work machines onto this task. I was worried to begin with, but I just added one machine at a time and let them settle for a week. Its worked just fine.
