I am wondering why we are not seeing more 3090/3090ti's in the top 50 listings?
Is a rtx 3090 or 3090 ti just not all that better for e@h crunching?
Or is it the price differential between the 3080/3080 ti and the 3090/3090ti ?

Personally, I think it is a mixture of BOTH. The 3090/3090Ti is not THAT much better at E@H crunching, and the price differential between the 3080/3080Ti and the 3090/3090Ti is too great.
At my usual supplier the 4090 has hit the ground running, not shy on price or for that matter space within the case. For gaming it is a pretty ridiculous solution I think, but for high intensity work like video editing etc it might be a sensible buy if it was a deductible and your time is at a premium. The other 4090 cards are mostly either sold out or on order, but all require careful thought about how to cool them. Some have their own liquid cooling loops for example. Not for me.

Despite my 'web preferences' requiring that GPU processing stops when the computer is 'busy', crunching continues unabated - both in CPU, and NVIDIA and Intel GPU: So why is the Desktop not detecting keyboard and mouse activity? The keyboard is USB connected. I am reluctant to switch to 'local' preferences.
The problem is that screen display is sluggish when GPU running (unsurprisingly).
Check that Boinc Manager has been set to crunch according to your preferences and not always.

So far from a best bang for the buck the Rtx 3080 ti seems to be the best buy for the e@h project.

Will there be a Cuda App for MeerKAT Linux? I see that the OpenCL Linux App needs one Core per GPU WU. Under Windows with Cuda it doesn't.
